I've been directed to this: http://etqw.splatterladder.com/?mod=playerinfo&idx=240820
And strange as it sounds, I haven't been back to BZ2 more than once or twice since ET:QW came out.
Although I sometimes see Jug in game, not sure if anyone else here turns up. Of course, we'd be glad to show them around.

Look in the Ruddy Talk area
, near the bottom, unless someone bumps it. If you don't want to take that route, we can try and work out the map folders.
tbh, I'm only playing ET:QW since it came out, but I'd be glad to meet up for a game of BZ2.

I still have the occasional game; I don't think I could admit to myself that I'd left it. It's the best game by far and I've had so many good times with it.
ET:QW
The pool of players gets smaller, including people I've been used to seeing over the years, the waiting gets longer and the competition (other games) grows.

Thanks for taking the trouble, for fixing things, and finally registering.

A team or an individual needs a bit of everything, one for the medic, one for the radar/sniper/disguise, one for artillery, etc. and it takes comms to tie it all up.
If you haven't been online yet, suggest you do it a little bit before you want to be ready as we are on the second update/patch so it might take a little while and I guess the weekend is a busy time for their servers, though it only took me a few minutes for the auto-update to complete.

ETQW now has integrated VOIP, thanks to the 1.2 patch, and of course we've got TeamSpeak (I finally got myself back on to it).
Had a go with Fried and the game's a lot better with comms (no surpise then).
Would like a larger group, say with all the troop types. Sinbad, got any plans to get this game? £18 inc. everything.

Added Black (awaiting response). Tried to add Black to "Clan" rather than "Friends" and couldn't. Wonder if Fried has to do that, seeing as he started things up?
"I just dont know what im doing."
It's suprising how effective someone can be by being in the right place at the right time (OK, it's not suprising, but sometimes it's best to avoid a firefight and go for an objective or position). I find zooming the mini-map in and out (< or >
helps; also choose the suggested class or else support that class.
I keep saying it, but I'd really like to try some sort of team, I think that would be a big help.

So far I've got Fried Tomato and Juggernaughty as ETQW contacts. Anyone else here that I should add?
I'm using aougli. So if anyone else has this game, post the nick. I don't know how to add people, but I doubt it's difficult.
Black?

I installed it and loaded it and it looks pretty; haven't tried the gameplay though . I'll try it soon; is it similar to BF2? I'm spending most my gaming time in ETQW; I've always prefered aliens
.

Yes, I am enjoying it.
As to "is it what you hoped it would be", well, when thinking about games I should stop comparing them to BZ2. If I want a game like BZ2 I should stick with BZ2, I know that.
So, it's fine,
but I prefer to fly rather than walk,
I would rather have the game go back and forth, with one team winning, then the other making a comeback, then back the other way, etc. With ETQW, the game is linear, in that either one team gets the job done within the time limit or the other team stops them.
There was some satisfaction to holding on to your ship for as long as possible; with ETQW you are likely to die often and choosing to respawn is part of the game and there's no penalty for it.
I like the complexity that resource management brings to a game.
on the other hand:
It has very few bugs (can't even think of one).
I'm discovering more as I play it, and enjoying more as I play it, and I've only played one race and not spent much time with the vehicles.
For the last year or two BZ2 has, in effect, been like playing on a private server where everyone knows each other and how to behave (stay together, no dropping in and out of games, play to your usual standard, and I've felt I should apologise for loosing too many ships).
ETQW is new and that is refreshing (large player base, play any way you want, come and go, finding out new things) and frustrating (people afk, tk, headless chicken, etc.,)
Really not sure about running a server. There are the same problems with ranked servers as there were with bf2, and it was others here who knew about server management; I wouldn't know one end of a linux binary from a cookie
.
Like just about any game, it would benefit from team play, maybe more than most, and we haven't done that yet. So, it's an on-going thing.
I'll be playing more of both.

Does quoting work for other people? I have to use the mouse to highlight the text in the previous post to be able to read it.

I'm mostly playing the GDF (humans) and their weapons are assault or sniper rifle, grenades, rocket launcher, laser targeting tool, etc. So it can suit people who want normal weapons or those who prefer science fiction.
I'm playing at 1280x720 with quality set to high. I haven't tried tweaking it; I'm certainly satisfied with that for the moment.
Got to say, the demo has increased the positive attitude I have for this game, especially since both Amazon and Play are selling it for £18 inc. everything.

Yes, I enjoyed it. I think teamwork would really help this game, and voice coms seem obvious. Heard a rumour that that be coming in a patch, though presumably not to the demo.
Also, it is possible to have "Fire teams" which is like a mini-team within the team and would encourage more thoughtful play. But it's possible to enjoy it without teamwork and to just rush around shooting stuff.
Of course, just the one map does get repetitive, but thats OK for a demo. And there's variety between the humans and aliens and the various classes.

Yup, I'm enjoying it. I've only played against the computer so far, and not all the classes either. Thought I'd start as a human soldier before getting too ambitous.
The latest Catalyst drivers solved any difficulties, and the game looks good and runs smoothly.
The demo map seems biased towards the defenders, but then, attacks are more difficult to organise, especially for new players.
Prob gonna try it online tonight.

Who says Monday is a bad day to release a demo ? We "should feel confident" about it being available on 10 Sept.
And for reason it's out on the 28th in Europe, a few days earlier than N. America.
I'm ready.
